Ascenz Marorka to equip Discoverer cruise vessel
Paris, July 4th 2025 – Ascenz Marorka, a GTT Group Smart Shipping company, announces that it has been selected by Antarctica21 to equip its forthcoming cruise vessel, Magellan Discoverer, scheduled for delivery in 2026.
This decision follows the successful collaboration between the two companies on Magellan Explorer, which was fitted in 2022 with a full suite of advanced measurement instruments and a comprehensive data collection setup. The system has been transmitting real-time operational data to the Ascenz Marorka online platform just prior to 2022/2023 Antarctic season.
In addition to its advanced digital platform, Ascenz Marorka provided Antarctica21 with managed performance services, enabling detailed analyses of critical vessel systems and operations.
Thanks to the combined benefits of real-time insights and expert analytics, the solution delivered a measurable impact on operational efficiency and decision-making, prompting Antarctica21 to select a similar package of on-board, online and experts’ services for Magellan Discoverer to optimise performance and sustainability.
Anouar Kiassi, VP Digital at GTT and CEO of Ascenz Marorka, stated: “The renewed trust of Antarctica21 is a rewarding recognition of our value proposition to the cruise market and a testament of our commitment to deliver high-quality digital solutions and services to our customers. We pride ourselves on being a long-term partner of our customers to help them achieve ambitious operational and environmental objectives.”
Verónica Peragallo, CEO of Antarctica21, added: “Our ships are more than vessels. They are our way of connecting travelers with one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. With Magellan Discoverer, we are raising the bar once again. We’ve seen the impact Ascenz Marorka’s technology has had on Magellan Explorer, achieving smarter operations, better insights, and a meaningful reduction in our environmental footprint. That’s the kind of performance we expect and demand. As we prepare to launch our next ship, we’re proud to continue this partnership and to keep leading the way in responsible Antarctic exploration.”
About Antarctica21
Antarctica21 operates air-cruise expeditions to Antarctica. The Company was founded in 2003 by adventurers who believed there was a better way to travel to Antarctica. Before Antarctica21, travelers who wanted to reach the Antarctic Peninsula had only one option: a 2-day sail across the notoriously rough seas of the Drake Passage. However, since 2003, the Company’s boutique wilderness adventures have offered a more comfortable alternative. A two-hour flight takes guests from Punta Arenas, the Chilean gateway to Patagonia, directly to Antarctica, where they then board their expedition ship. No stormy crossing. No seasickness. Just quick, total immersion in the adventure of Antarctica. The Company operates small expedition vessels with a maximum of 73 guests, offering flexibility and access that larger ships simply can’t match. Guests get on and off the ship efficiently, so their time ashore is focused where it should be: enjoying every moment of a journey unlike any other.
